Pierre has an ardent interest in the latest developments in astrophysics and cosmology, particularly at Stanford, KIPAC, and SLAC. His many visits to research labs worldwide brought him to the highest observatories, the deepest mines, and to the South Pole, among other striking locations. An asteroid (
Schwob, 32890) has been officially named after him in recognition of his contributions to science and technology.
He is a long-time trustee of the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California, and lives in Palo Alto.
